The story behind...

Some time ago, the family Matveji contacted me—they wanted to commission my painting “Dragonflies.” It’s a subject very dear to my heart. In Lithuanian, it’s called “Laumžirgis”—literally translated into Latvian, it would mean “fairy horse.”

I was and still am thrilled by Evija’s trust, her willingness to pay the price, and her choice of format (not a smaller one, but a larger one), but what thrilled me most was the kindness and “words of encouragement” I received both during the process and when the painting was finally finished and had set off for its new home. An artist does not create out of a passion for a hobby or in their free time; it is work.

I’ve dedicated years to learning, studying, and practical exploration — I know for sure that I’ll keep doing it. I’m a family and friends person. It’s very hard to keep the focus on “myself”… Priorities slip away when you work from home and are “solo” 🤷🏻‍♀️ — this detour is about the fact that finding time for work and cultivating self-motivation is yet another challenge. The family Matveji gave so many compliments, kind words, and attention from the client, that’s a huge motivator to keep going — it’s a joy to know that someone needs what I do.

Just one of many messages from Evija:

“Good evening, Ieva🥰 Fantastic, my husband and I are thrilled. ❣️A big, big thank you. We’ll hang it on the wall, then I’ll send you a picture. But after 5 years of living in this house and looking for something beautiful, it’s finally happened. It really brings energy to our home. Thank you! ❤️”

I’d like to say, “Miracles do happen!”, but then I realize that you just have to meet your people.
